Rough Guide To Manu Dibango

Various
Audio CD: FDO 2004-08-30
Label: World Music Network
"A sax-player, composer, singer, pianist and arranger, Manu Dibango is Cameroon’s best-known musician – most famous for his 1973 saxophone-driven instrumental "Soul Makossa" – and one of a handful of musical monoliths from Africa able to stand on equal footing with superstars from Europe or America. Since the early 1960s, he has been rolling out self-composed hit recordings in a wide variety of genres including Congolese, Latin, West African, Caribbean, Funk, Soul, Cabaret, Folklore, Chanson, Gospel, Rap and, the Groove he made his own, Makossa. This CD to Manu Dibango has been compiled with the input, co-operation and authorisation of the artist, and displays the full spectrum of his work over more than forty years in the groove. Enjoy!......at 320.0 kb/sec!"

The Rough Guide To The Music Of South Africa ''First Edition''

Various

Audio CD: FDO 1998-01-26
Label: World Music Network

"South African music is diverse with many styles and variations. This CD to the Music of South Africa gives us an awareness of how fascinating the Zulu culture and music traditions are. Ladysmith Black Mambazo led by Joseph Shabala featured on this album, received international success and gives us a glimpse of how abundant this nation is - it is one of my favourite songs! This album provides an insight into Zulu, Xhoso and Sotho traditions. Their vocals reflect their culture and their modern sounds are incorporated to give us a fantastic sound and an album that can be appreciated and enjoyed by all! Recommended to all!......... at 256 kbps!"

Music For Lovers

Dinah Washington

Music For Lovers

Audio CD: FDO 2007-01-16
Label: Blue Notes Records

"Dinah Washington, of course, was a superb ballad singer whose elegance brought a maximum of feeling to the standards she sang. This CD includes songs from some of the very last sessions she recorded, in 1962. This period has more detractors than champions, but Washington's magnificence as a vocalist was clear on anything she ever recorded. . at 320 kbps !"
