Vete

Antony Santos
Audio CD: FDO 2008-01-02
Label: Soundview
"Antony Santos(1973) is a bachata musician from the Dominican Republic, renowned for his role in redefining the genre to include romantic music. He entered onto the scene in the early 1990s, being the first rural bachatero to reach a mainstream audience with his hit "Voy pa'lla", shortly after Blas Durán had appropriated the electric guitar for the genre. Santos' adoption of soft romantic lyrics was more socially accepted than the bawdy cabaret style common to bachata before him, and he shortly became the genre's leading artist, helping move bachata into the Caribbean Latino mainstream. Antony Santos is currently the best paid bachatero in the Dominican Republic". Enjoy !!!......at 320.0 kb/sec

The Rough Guide Unwired: Acoustic Music From Around The World

Various

Audio CD: FDO 2001-10-01
Label: World Music Network

"Although its focus is acoustic-oriented world music, Unwired doesn't limit itself to traditional sounds -- in fact, much of the compilation consists of contemporary, even cutting-edge pop from various continents. Covering a lot of territory, this excellent CD take us to various parts of Africa with selections by Toumani Diabate and Baaba Maal, as well as to Spain with Duquende's "Lo Bueno Y Lo Malo" (an appealing example of the type of nuevo flamenco that has been the rage in Spain since the 1970s), and to Latin America with Argentinean tango vocalist Adriana Varela's dramatic "La Casita De Mis Viejos" and Colombian vallenato artist Maximo Jimenez's "Vuelo En Libelula." (Quite different from cumbia, vallenato is an exuberant, accordion-based style that comes from Colombia's Atlantic coast.) India is represented by Shivkumar Sharma and Hariprasad Chaurasia's "Love," while instrumental Finnish folk is represented by the all-female quintet Niekku's "Yski Ruusu." One of the best songs on the album is Sudanese singer Rasha's "Azara Al Hay," a haunting, jazz-influenced gem. Not the least bit predictable, Unwired is well worth obtaining.Enjoy!!!..... at 320 kbps!"

The Rough Guide To Salsa Dance ''First Edition''

Various

Audio CD: FDO 2005-03-07
Label: World Music Network

"With its intensely percolating blend of melodic vigor, horn-motivated harmony, jazzy improvisation, polyrhythmic percussion, and soulful sense of celebration, Latin music at its best is arguably the world's most enjoyably complex form of dance music. Immensely entertaining if scattershot, this wide-ranging, filler-free introduction to the salsa tradition samples four decades' worth of music from Cuba, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Colombia, and, of course, New York's Fania stable (where it first exploded in the 1970s). The anthology ranges from the early '60s Cuban boogaloo of Joe Cuba to Sierra Maestra's classic son (from whence salsa evolved) to seventysomething Celia Cruz's relentless energy. Sophisticated arrangements by Fania star Willie Colon, inventive pianist Charlie Palmieri, and young trombone upstart Jimmy Bosch offset the kicking sounds of La Misma Gente ("Raquel") and Dominican-born singer Jose Alberto.Enjoy!!!..... at 192 kbps!"
