"Very wholesome, traditional Christmas music. Colorado Christmas is a family favorite here in Colorado but the entire CD is well done. Highly enjouable. I first heard Colorado Christmas on the radio during my first Christmas trip to the most beautiful state in the USA. Wonderful music. I had no idea who the band were at that time but I knew I had to get the album. It took some finding, first on cassette then on CD. It's my favourite Christmas song on a great album; reminds me of Colorado ski trips every time I play it. The Christmas Album finds the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band turning in a typically tasteful album and a surprisingly strong country holiday record. Along with a couple recent holiday tunes and originals, the Dirt Band puts their distinctive spin on traditional carols like "Silver Bells," "Silent Night," and "Little Drummer Boy." The end result is quite charming and should appeal to much of the Dirt Band's hardcore following. Enjoy!......at 320.0 kb/sec!"

"The First Noel" and "The Little Drummer Boy" also benefit from his folky tinge. But the real unexpected wonder here is when Denver steps out of the spiritual aspect of the season for a heart-wrenching cover of "Blue Christmas." For all those who never thought of John Denver as a romantic type, this ought to erase those doubts. "Certainly the Celine's rarest canadian album nowadays. Recorded at the same time as the first, it didn't have a huge success. It features classical songs for Christmas. That album would be the only album made by Celine distributed in Canada not being certified at least gold.It was released three weeks after Dion's debut longplay and contained traditional Christmas carols. There were no singles issued to promote this album. Céline Dion Chante Noël and La voix du bon Dieu sold 30,000 copies in 1981 and they'd go on to sell about 125,000 copies the following year. Tracks 1, 9 and 10 appeared also on Dion's second Christmas album Chants et contes de Noël (1983). In 1993, Dion recorded an English version of "Joyeux Noël," called "The Christmas Song," which appeared later on her 1998 album These Are Special Times. With the tree lights twinkling and snow falling outside the window. With the smell of the fresh cut christmas tree and cookies and cakes baking in the kitchen. I think of snuggling on the couch with a warm blanket and a hot cup of tea with cookies. That was grandma's specialty! First off let me say that I have not purchased this album/cd. I have however purchased the album/cd Holiday Inn and White Christmas individually and this album/cd contains the exact same songs as the two individual albums/cd's.
I am a big fan of both movies and have loved these songs for years. The songs from Holiday Inn have Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire performing them and they sound just like the songs from the film. Marjorie Reynolds who sang along with Crosby and Astaire in the film is not on the album and while it would have been nice to have her participate her absence does not hinder the listening experience. My personal favorite song is "You're Easy To Dance With". This song is not as easy to find as the more traditional songs such as "White Christmas", "Easter Parade" and "Happy Holiday" and makes the purchase of the cd worth the price by itself.
The songs from White Christmas are the exact same songs from the White Christmas album. The order has been slightly changed. On the Album the songs follow the order they were sung in the movie but on this album/cd a few songs were moved around. I prefer the songs in the order they appeared in the film but that's a minor flaw. Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye and Trudy Stevens (who voiced over Vera Ellen's voice for the movie) all participate in this album/cd but Rosemary Cloony is replaced by Peggy Lee. Rosemary Clooney could not participate due to contract issues between her label and the soundtracks label. While Rosemary Clooney is missed Peggy Lee fills in wonderfully. While I like every song from the WC movie I most enjoy the songs "Snow" and "The Best Things Happen While You're Dancing".
Chances are if you like either one of these movies you will love this album/cd. All songs are by Irving Berlin and are great fun to sing to. Enjoy!......at 320.0 kb/sec!"

"There's something for everyone on this wonderfully eclectic recording, which ranges from Oscar Peterson's almost lullaby-like piano on "A Child is Born" to Bill Evans's jazzy piano improvisations (overdubbed) on "Santa Claus is Coming to Town," and Sister Rosetta Tharpe's "O, Little Town of Bethlehem," a full-out, hand-clapping, rocking and stomping Gospel song. Containing both vocals and instrumentals, with arrangements which vary from softly sweet to full-out wailing, this CD is full of delightful surprises to keep the Christmas repertoire fresh.
Three of the songs here feature Ella Fitzgerald. "The Secret of Christmas" and "White Christmas," both of which she sings "pure," are soft, slow ballads filled with sweetness, while "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," with its quick beat, provides a jazzy close-out for the album. Dinah Washington's "Ole Santa" and "Silent Night" take the opposite tack from Ella, as she sings with strength and verve--and absolutely no sweetness! Billie Holiday's "I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm," not exactly a Christmas song, features solos by the great Benny Carter on clarinet and Sweets Edison on muted trumpet.
Roland Kirk's "We Free Kings," the most highly improvised song on the album, features Kirk on flute and wailing sax, accompanied by an insistent drumbeat. And my favorite--Jimmy Smith's "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" is the greatest version of this song I've ever heard, opening with jazz tuba and drums (and sounding like giants walking), then introducing trumpets and a wonderful Smith organ solo, which soars into the stratosphere. A terrific album for the jazz lover at Christmas time, this CD showcases some of the pioneers of American jazz.

Carol For Another Christmas (written by Henry Mancini) is a masterpiece which provokes thoughts of future Christmases. A very moving piece of music. "How can you not love Nat "King" Cole's classic Christmas release? From the first note to the last, it just drips with memories of Christmases past. Of course, it does help that I grew up listening to it.
It opens with the title song, which was introduced to the world by Nat. While I enjoy other renditions, this version is definitely a classic. While every song is wonderful, standouts for me are the songs I don't have as often in my Christmas music collection. "Deck the Hall," "O Tannenbaum" (Yes, recorded in German.), "I Saw Three Ships," and "Caroling, Caroling" are included in this group. And I have to make special note of "A Cradle in Bethlehem." This musical version of the Christmas story is very touching. I wish more artists would record it.
Having listened to this album every Christmas I can remember, it just wouldn't be Christmas without it. Even now, listening to it makes me think of dark winter nights, decorating the tree, and wrapping presents. It has a special place in my collection, and I'm sure it will in yours as well.
